Cities Driving the Digital Transition – insights from Connected Smart Cities Conference 2018
In spite of the fact that Brussels can pride itself of being a center of Art Nouveau architecture, at the same time it is a center of innovation. Buildings clothed in colorful and detailed embellishments exist next to the modern ones hosting a world-class top technology speakers, market leaders and an abundance of game-changing ideas. One of such places is The EGG – a hyper-modern innovation hub we had a chance to visit recently.
The EGG Brussels
The beginning of the year is always a good point to start new initiatives or renew existing ones. The Open & Agile Smart Cities initiative (OASC) having a three-year tradition, took place on 11th of January 2018 and brought together participants playing a decisive role in overcoming obstacles Smart City ecosystem faces. There is a lot of challenges (like siloed, industry-specific IoT/M2M data and fragmented digital channels) that cannot be conquered without cooperation between public and private stakeholders as well as engagement of local authorities.
Martin Brynskov, Chair of OASC
So far more than 117 cities, 24 countries across Europe, Latin-America, Asia-Pacific joined OASC. We are proud to be part of that movement and contribute to developing standard interfaces and Smart Services enabling sustainable urban development!
Our ambition is not only to build horizontal, scalable and open to integration Smart Mobility Platform – Mobility Backend as a Service (MBaaS) – but also share our know-how and replicate the solution in other cities.
The EGG Auditorium
We found the conference valuable and fostering networking – especially that dedicated plenary sessions were giving a chance to choose subjects and speakers the most aligned with our area of interest. Afterwards, inspiring discussions occured in result of which new opportunities to join common projects arised. Mindset of cooperation is everything! Together with our strategic partners we will co-create citizen-focused Smart Cities of the future.
Then… stay tuned!
