Tokenization in Smart City Ekosystem

Fractional ownership enabled by distributed ledger technology can be a game changer democratizing property ownership. Entry barriers to invest in the property market are relatively high. With blockchain adoption, property owner may issue tokens, each one representing percentage of the ownership in a building or a parcel. For investors, this means higher accessibility of investing in real estate, if token enables buying for example 1% of the property.

At the same time, distributed ledger database can enable verification of the ownership (tracking mortgage, changing owners etc.), upgrading and automating processes, while eliminating the need for real estate agents. The income generated by a property would be paid for token owners proportionally to their percentage ownership in the building.
